Marty Guerrero is a two time Emmy Award winning journalist who has worked in Los Angeles TV News for 16 years as both a writer and a producer. Marty also worked 10 years at CNN Headquarters in Atlanta. She is a SoCal (Southern California) native and a former reporter at the San Bernardino Sun. Marty began her journalism career working summers at the El Chicano Newspaper while earning her journalism degree at San Diego State University.
Besides writing, Marty has mentored young women and sponsored scholarships. She has been a guest instructor at a summer program for high school students at the University of Missouri School of Journalism. She has been a guest speaker at UCLA, Cal State Long Beach, Cal State San Bernardino and numerous elementary schools.
Marty gets her story inspirations from everyday life. She enjoys writing poetry, going to the beach, attending the theater, watching movies on the big screen and having a glass of wine during “girl time” with her friends.
Marty and her husband, Tony Ayala, live in Los Angeles with their two Chihuahuas (dog children): Junior and Thumbelina.
